Since 2008, KIEP has been running the GPAS (Graduate Program for Area Studies) scholarship based on its extensive networking and fruitful regional research experiences. This project contributes to the revitalization of local research, training of local experts, and spreading of expertise through various programs such as regular lectures of domestic and foreign specialists, field surveys, overseas internships, and special lectures by world scholars.

As it celebrates its 11th anniversary in 2019, GPAS has produced over 5600 talented graduates who have made use of their regional expertise and degree into areas such as international organizations, government-funded research institutes, and private companies.
